Holdsworth House - A Country House Inspired Civil Partnership

Every couple that we meet to discuss wedding photography with is different, some are very traditional, some are extremely organised and some are unbelievably laid back. When we first met Joseph and Daniel to discuss their Civil Ceremony at the beautiful Holdsworth House Hotel near Halifax we knew that their special day was not only going to be wonderfully personal and unique but also meticulously planned and organised!

Daniel was clearly the expert planner and had detailed timetables for the days events, plans of the room layouts and table decoration plans and a list as long as your arm of little details that he needed to seek out in the months running up to the wedding - it was clear that 'Project W' was going to be an almost military operation.

The guys had decided that they wanted to dress their tables with vintage china and spent months and months searching charity shops buying up any tea cups, tea pots, plates and saucers they could find! I think there is now a Yorkshire wide shortage of un-chipped vintage china!

But that was only one small part of the work that the boys put into their big day, they grew all the table decorations themselves, made their own candles in vintage tea cups, designed an made their own wonderfully unique table plan and hunted down some vintage luggage to collect cards and presents in.
The guys wanted to try and give the day a touch of the Country Gent, this was wonderfully in touch with the venue and its wood paneled rooms and roaring fires.

The boys wore matching tweed outfits and looked every bit the Country Gent as they posed for their couple portraits, the shot above of the boys by the spectacular fire place was one of their favorites! The wonderful dresser below also provided a great Country House feel to the photos and I think it looks fabulous!
As if all of the details and unique elements of the day where not enough the boys even managed to bring something different to their group photos.

We had already discussed using various elements of the Holdsworth House gardens to create a range of different group photos which we did in the traditional way, but to add a little bit of fun to the proceedings the boys asked each group to strike a pose after the formal shot was in the can!

I have never had so much fun taking group photos and the end results are absolutely fantastic! After all why do group shots have to be so formal?

Hopefully you enjoyed the photos and the details of what was a very memorable day. I am sure the guys will have a wonderful future together and wish them all the happiness in the world, Thank you Joe and Dan for making us part of your Greatest Day!
